Steps to check your Chromebook for MCAS Readiness
To prepare for MCAS Infrastructure trial or MCAS test day, please check the following 2 items:
Check your Chrome OS version to ensure that it is above OS 93. - See directions below
Open “Apps” (bottom left of screen at login screen and launch TestNav) - if it gets to the TestNav - Massachusetts “Sign In” screen. You can power off the Chromebook and reboot to use normally.
If your Chrome OS IS above 93 and TestNav opens normally to the Sign In screen, there is nothing further needed. You can press the power button to Shut Down the Chromebook. Thank you!
If your Chromebook OS is NOT above version 93, please follow the instructions below to run an OS update. See below.
Note ** If your Chromebook is up to date but TestNav does not load the Sign In screen normally, please bring your Chromebook to the main office so they can contact our IT staff who can assist with the device.
Check to make sure that your Chromebook OS is up to date. Your Chrome OS should be at least version 93 or higher. To check your Chrome OS, at the login screen - use the keys Alt + V this will give you Google Chrome OS version number at the top right of the screen and your device serial number. See the screenshot below.
To Run an OS Update for your Chromebook, login with your account. Then click on the 3 dots ”menu” button and select > Help > About Google Chrome
To see if your device is up to date, go to “Chrome OS Settings”
Select the “Check for updates” button
If an update is needed or available, Chrome will automatically update to the latest version.
After the update has been completed, click the Restart button.
Your Chromebook will automatically reboot.
Please verify that you are able to launch TestNav successfully after your OS update.
